The quick and easy answer to that question is not at all. Martinsville is such a slow track aerodynamics won’t come into play. Handling at Martinsville is dependent upon mechanical grip (tires).
The spoiler will really come into effect at bigger tracks such as Texas where teams need to have a strong aero package.
Take a look at this video below. It’s from the spring 2006 race at Martinsville. Take note about how serious the damage is to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s car. Guess where he finished that day. I bet you didn’t guess 4th.
How did he finish 4th? The reason why he finished 4th is because he never really repaired his car at all that day and he’s good at Martinsville. If this damage didn’t play any real role in the race I don’t think a little 4 inch spoiler in the back of the car will.
