New Hampshire Lenox Industrial Tools 301: Fantasy Racing Drivers Who You Should Avoid
Sam Hornish Jr. – AJ Allmendinger is out of the #22 ride at New Hampshire and Sam Hornish Jr. is in. Previously when he piloted the #12 car for Penske Racing shorter flat tracks like New Hampshire, Richmond and Phoenix were his best tracks. Hornish has been in six races at Loudon and has two top ten finishes. His last race here was in 2010 and he finished 10th. I think Sam Hornish Jr. will make the most of this opportunity. Bobby Labonte – Last season Bobby Labonte had two top ten finishes and one of them came in the July New Hampshire race. In the 2011 Lenox Industrial Tools 301 he finished 7th but it’s the product of pit strategy, not from having a competitive car. His average running position was 21st and he only ran in the top fifteen for 22.9% percent of the laps. In the 2011 September New Hampshire race he finished 19th. His average finish in the last five New Hampshire races minus his 7th place finish is 26.2. This season on the similar tracks Labonte has finished 16th (Phoenix), 17th (Martinsville) and 17th (Richmond). (Yahoo! C Driver)

Regan Smith – Last fall Regan Smith finished 10th at New Hampshire. That’s his best finish by quite a margin. His next best finish is 19th. His average finish is 26.7 and by no means would I argue it’s skewed. His 10th place finish is a clear outlier. This season on tracks that could be considered similar he’s finished 20th (Phoenix), 16th (Martinsville) and 27th (Richmond). (Yahoo! B Driver)

Paul Menard – Out of all the drivers who I rank on a weekly basis Paul Menard has the worst average finish at New Hampshire (27.7). His average finish is not skewed in any way. Last fall Paul Menard had his best finish at New Hampshire. Unfortunately not to many people would consider a 20th place finish a good result. He’s raced here 10 times and has a 27.9 average running position and has ran just 8.1% percent of the laps in the top fifteen. (Yahoo! B Driver)
David Ragan – Last fall Ragan had his best finish at New Hampshire (finished 7th). It was a legitimate 7th place finish that wasn’t skewed. In the July race last year he finished 14th. To find his next top fifteen you need to look all the way back to his first start at Loudon in 2007. Don’t look for Ragan to qualify well. Last year he qualified 26th in both races. In order for Ragan to get a good finish in this race he’ll need to make a pit stop gamble. I’ve said this many times before but look for Ragan to finish right in front of the start and parkers. AJ Allmendinger – If you pick him you’re not paying attention. (Yahoo! B Driver)
