Crown Royal Presents the Indianapolis Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard: Fantasy Racing Drivers To Avoid
Jeff Burton – Last year at Indy Jeff Burton’s #31 Chevrolet had engine problems and finished 35th. Performance wise he looked like a mid teens finisher. In 2010 Burton finished 6th. Overall Burton has finished in the top ten in three out of the last five races at Indy. I think a top ten finish in the Curtiss Shaver 400 is highly unlikely. Burton has four top tens this season and three of them came on restrictor plate tracks. His other top ten was at Bristol. I think his projected finish range will be 15th to 25th. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Regan Smith – Last year at Indianapolis Regan Smith finished 3rd. Don’t be fooled though, he wasn’t that good. He was a hyper mileage driver like Paul Menard. His average running position was 19th and he only ran in the top fifteen for 23.1% percent of the laps run. Smith’s other Indy finishes are 31st, 39th and 31st. This team has taken a step back this year and Smith hasn’t finished better than 14th this season. Look for him to finish around 20th. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Bobby Labonte – This race if often won by championship contenders and in 2000 when Bobby Labonte won the Sprint Cup Championship he won at Indianapolis. That was also his last top ten finish here. Labonte obviously isn’t a championship contender and his finishes show it. His last top fifteen finish at Indy was back in 2004. He’s finished on the lead lap four times in the last seven races (at Indy) and his finishes are 19th, 16th, 23rd and 17th. In May Bobby Labonte finished 22nd at Pocono. (Yahoo! C Driver)
Sam Hornish Jr. – Sam Hornish Jr. is a former Indy 500 winner but that doesn’t translate into anything for the Curtiss Shaver 400. In his three races in a stock car he’s finished 30th, 37th and 21st. His 21st place finish came in 2008 which was the tire debacle year. If drivers didn’t have tire problems he likely would’ve finished 30th. It’s important to note that Hornish has had success at Pocono (similar track). At the tricky triangle he’s finished 11th or better in four out of the last five races. (Yahoo! C Driver)
David Ragan – Last season David Ragan won the pole and consistently ran in the top ten until he made his final pit stop with about 25 laps remaining. After his pit stop he never improved his position and went on to finish 23rd. Don’t look for much out of David Ragan at the Brickyard. His average finish is a non-skewed 19.4. Look for Ragan to finish just ahead of the start and parkers. (Yahoo! C Driver)
