- Dale Earnhardt Jr. spun and wrecked the car he won with 9 weeks ago. He will have to drive a backup in the Pure Michigan 400. Before he wrecked though he wasn’t happy. He said they were going backwards and the car quits after 2 laps.

- Kurt Busch spun and didn’t sustain any damage.

- Carl Edwards had a rough vibration. Said “Something’s definitely wrong”.

- David Reutimann scuffed tires for the #18 team. He also ran over something big and sustained damage to the Interstate Batteries Toyota. The damage is just cosmetic though.

- Martin Truex Jr. felt a vibration. They changed gears but it didn’t help any. They also made a spring change.

- Tony Stewart was struggling on entry. He’s using his winning Auto Club chassis and the same one he finished 2nd with in June.

- Greg Biffle changed drive shafts between practices.

- Brad Keselowski was using a “science experiment” setup.
