Las Vegas Kobalt Tools 400 – Fantasy NASCAR “Mid Pack” Predictions
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – If you’re looking for a sleeper pick Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is likely as good as they’ll come for the Las Vegas Kobalt Tools 400. In future intermediate track races I predict he’ll lose his deep sleeper viability because he’s the real deal and the #17 team is Top Tier Elite. Another reason is because his popularity on this track type will grow. In the Nationwide Series intermediate tracks were his strength. Last season in the lower series Stenhouse Jr. won at Las Vegas and led 55 laps. Roush cars are traditionally strong here and Stenhouse Jr.’s car won’t be an exception. (Yahoo! C Driver)
Joey Logano – In the last three Las Vegas races Logano has started 8th or better. His finishes haven’t been there though. In four Vegas races he has one top ten and a 14.5 average finish. Last year at Vegas Logano finished 16th and had a 17th place average running position. This time around he’ll no longer be in a Joe Gibbs car but that won’t be a factor that would affect his fantasy value. Last year the Penske cars were pretty good but they had company wide fuel pickup issues. In the Kobalt Tools 400 I would look for Logano to finish somewhere in the teens. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Paul Menard – Last year at Las Vegas Menard overcame his 26th place starting position and finished 7th. He earned that finish by driving his way up through the field. No gimmickry played a part in that finish. In 2011 he also had a good race and finished 12th. Intermediate tracks are a strength of Menard’s. Last year on this track type he scored the 15th most points and had a 15.5 average finish. If you’re looking for a good mid tier driver Menard isn’t a bad option for the Kobalt Tools 400. (Yahoo!
