Yahoo! Fantasy NASCAR C List Fantasy Preview – Chicagoland Geico 400
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has never raced at Chicagoland in a Sprint Cup car. For drivers with no track history the thing to turn to is performances on similar tracks. This season on 1.5 mile tracks minus Texas (problems) he has a 15.2 average finish and a 16.8 average running position. In 2012 in the Nationwide Series he had results of 1st and 2nd. Last week Ricky Stenhouse Jr. earned his first top ten of the season, can he make it two in a row in the Geico 400?
AJ Allmendinger – AJ Allmendinger missed the race at Chicagoland last season. His most recent race here was in 2011 and he finished 27th. In his other three races at Chicagoland he’s had results of 13th, 13th and 14th. AJ Allmendinger has participated in two races in the #47 car on 1.5 mile tracks and he’s had results of 22nd (Kentucky) and 14th (Atlanta). In the Chicagoland Geico 400 I would expect him to have a result similar to his Kentucky performance. I think his Atlanta finish is a little misleading because that event turned into a high attrition race.
Casey Mears – Since 2008 this has been a miserable venue for him. Over these five races he has a best result of 28th, a 33.2 average finish, a 34.0 average running position and the 43rd best driver rating! In the last three races on tracks of this length he’s had results between 18th and 23rd. I think it’s safe to assume that’s the high-end as to what you should expect from him at Chicagoland. A reasonable expectation though would be a mid 20′s finish.

David Ragan – The best case scenario for David Ragan in the Chicagoland Geico 400 is a finish the low twenties. On 1.5 mile tracks this season he has a 26.8 average finish and the 34th best driver rating. In the six races on tracks of this length he’s finished between 23rd and 31st every race. Assuming he’ll finish in that range is the reasonable thing to expect. At Chicagoland Ragan has a 17.2 average finish. In last seasons race with his current employer he finished 22nd.
Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick raced at Chicagoland last season. On lap #34 she was in 35th one lap down. That pretty much sums up her level of competitiveness. In the race she finished 25th, had a 30th place average running position and earned the 31st best driver rating. In the last four races on 1.5 mile tracks this season she’s had results of 21st, 23rd, 29th and 25th. I would expect a similar performance from her in the Chicagoland Geico 400.
