Las Vegas Kobalt Tools 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Jamie McMurray – Jamie McMurray had a solid performance at Las Vegas last season. He started in the rear of the field due to an engine change but that didn’t prove to be a significant problem. By about lap #35 he climbed up to the low single digits. From that point on he consistently ran between 10th and 15th. In the race the number you need to know about him is 13. He finished 13th, had a 13th place average running position and earned the 13th best driver rating. In 2012 at Vegas he finished 12th. Throughout his career McMurray has had moderate success here. In 45% percent of his races he’s had a result in the top thirteen. Last season on high-speed intermediate tracks McMurray scored the 18th most points. His strength on these tracks was his consistency. He only had two top ten finishes but had a result in the top twenty 71% percent of the time. (Yahoo B Driver)

Paul Menard – Paul Menard has recently been a strong performer at Las Vegas. Over the last three races he has a 9.7 average finish, 11.7 average running position and the 11th best driver rating. His solid average finish ranks as the 5th best in the series over this stretch of races. Last season at Vegas Menard had a solid race. He finished 10th, had a 12th place average running position and earned the 12th best driver rating. In 2012 he started in 26th and drove up to a 7th place result. In 2011 he finished 12th. Last season on high-speed intermediate tracks Paul Menard tied Aric Almirola for scoring the 15th most points in the series. His primary strength on these venues was being consistent. In 79% percent of the races on this track type he had a top twenty result. On them he had a 16.9 average finish and a 17.2 average running position. (Yahoo B Driver)

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Last year at Las Vegas Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made his first start in a Sprint Cup car. In the race he performed slightly better than his 18th place finish. He started 7th, had a 13th place average running position and earned the 14th best driver rating. Las Vegas has traditionally been a friendly track for Roush Fenway Racing and I expect that trend to continue in the Kobalt Tools 400. In 2013 on intermediate tracks Stenhouse Jr. had 1 top ten result and a 18.1 average finish. His last three results from 2013 on 1.5 mile tracks were 22nd (Homestead), 16th (Texas) and 13th (Charlotte). (Yahoo B Driver)
