Kansas 5-Hour Energy 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Kyle Larson β Kyle Larson has been impressive on high-speed intermediate tracks this season. Between the three races on this track type he has a 8.7 average finish and a 14.0 average running position. In the last two races on these venues heβs finished in the top five. At Auto Club Speedway he finished 2nd and at Texas he finished 5th. Last season at Kansas in the Nationwide Series Larson started in 19th, raced his way up to about the top five and then he had some sort of issue that caused him to drop back. Last fall at Kansas the 42 car was strong. Montoya finished 18th but he ran near the top five in a portion of the race and he had a 11th place average running position. If you want to pick a dark horse driver for the Kansas 5-Hour Energy 400 they don’t come much better then Larson this week. (Yahoo C Driver)

Paul Menard β Don’t overlook Paul Menard in the Kansas 5-Hour Energy 400. He’s been a solid dark horse fantasy pick on high-speed intermediate tracks this season. Him and Matt Kenseth are the only drivers who are 3 for 3 in terms of finishing in the top ten every race. Between the three races he has a 7.0 average finish, 12.3 average running position and the 9th best driver rating. The new surface at Kansas has been extremely friendly to Paul Menard. On it him and Top Tier Elite Pick Jimmie Johnson are the only drivers who have finished in the top ten every race. In the three races on the new surface he has a 6.7 average finish and 9.0 average running position. Last fall his performance was very solid. He started in 8th, finished 7th, had a 6th place average running position and earned the 5th best driver rating. In spring 2013 he also had a strong showing. He started in 12th, had a 13th place average running position, finished 10th and earned the 10th best driver rating. The best way to describe his afternoon is that it was uneventful. In fall 2012 in the first race on the new surface he had his best performance at Kansas. He finished 3rd, led 6 laps, and earned the 5th best driver rating. In fall 2012 in the Nationwide Series race he led 110 laps but ran out of gas while going for the win. In fall 2013 in the lower series he finished runner-up. Look for Paul Menard to have a solid evening in the Kansas 5-Hour Energy 400. (Yahoo B Driver)
