NASCAR Power Index – Las Vegas
1. Joey Logano (LW: 1) – Logano’s impressive start to 2015 continued Sunday in Atlanta. The Penske driver finished fourth and led 84 laps.
2. Kevin Harvick (LW: 3) – A bridesmaid for the second week in a row, “Happy” led a race-high 116 laps.
3. Jimmie Johnson (LW: 6) – Johnson OWNED the second half of the race on Sunday, leading to his first win of the 2015 season, and fourth career victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
4. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (LW: 2) – Like Harvick, Dale Jr. also equaled his finish from last week’s Daytona 500, coming home third.
5. Matt Kenseth (LW: 9) – Solid rebound race after a rough Daytona 500, Kenseth led ten laps on his way to a top-5 finish.
6. Martin Truex Jr. (LW: 12) – Another solid effort for Truex, who crossed the finish line sixth. Seems (for now) his 2014 struggles are behind him.
7. Denny Hamlin (LW: 5) – Denny’s car ran well at Atlanta, until it didn’t. Hamlin got loose and spun on Lap 258, effectively ruining his day.
8. Jeff Gordon (LW: 4) – A rough start to Gordon’s final full season of Cup racing, as he was involved in the wreck that started when Denny Hamlin spun on Lap 258.
9. Brad Keselowski (LW: 11) – Brad didn’t have a winning car on Sunday, but a ninth-place effort has to be a little reassuring after all his struggles at Daytona.
10. Kasey Kahne (LW: 7) – After spending much of Sunday inside the top 10, Kahne slid back a bit by day’s end, finishing 14th.
11. Carl Edwards (LW: 10) – Edwards had a great car for about 90% of the race, but a cut tire forced him to settle for a 12th-place finish.
12. Casey Mears (LW: 13) – Mears stayed out of trouble and ran a consistent race, finishing 15th.
13. AJ Allmendinger (LW: NR) – Allmendinger stayed inside the top 20 pretty much all day long, and made his way forward late, scoring a seventh-place finish.
14. Clint Bowyer (LW: 8) – A minor setback for Bowyer, who never really got anything going on Sunday.
15. Aric Almirola (LW: NR) – Following an impressive 15th-place finish at Daytona last week, Almirola put up an 11th-place finish Sunday in Atlanta.
Dropped from Power Index – Greg Biffle (13), Austin Dillon (15)
