Richmond Race Notes

Brad Keselowski started on the pole and led the first 42 laps.

Kyle Busch focused on running the high-line early to pass cars.

Brad Keselowski’s car was really good on the bottom and he had excellent drive off.

Running order on lap 20: 2,24,4,22,15,48,41,1,42,11 … 20,17,99,31,16,18,27,10,14,5 … 88,55,47,43,3,13,51,38,36,78

Jamie McMurray had about the 2nd quickest car on the track on lap 23.

Kevin Harvick had a very fast car running the top line. When he had to move down to the low line he wasn’t nearly as strong.

Notable Moment: On lap 43 running the high-line Kevin Harvick passed Brad Keselowski for the lead. He led the remaining laps until the competition caution pit stop.

During the first round of pit stops Harvick said he was loose in and loose off.

During the first round of pit stops Keselowski said his car was good on short runs but he got loose over long runs.

Gordon said his car was a handful during the first round of pit stops.

During the first round of pit stops Ryan Newman lost a handful of positions after he was blocked in his pit stall.

After the first round of pit stops Keselowski got back the lead.

Kyle Larson was falling back on lap 88 following the first round of pit stops. He said his car was over rotating in the center.

Notable Moment: Around lap 100 Harvick started getting closer to Keselowski but his car was only strong running the high-line which was a big problem in traffic.

Over long runs Keselowski said his car lost grip coming off the corner.

Notable Moment: Kevin Harvick passed Brad Keselowski for the lead once again on lap 120.

Big Moment: On lap 120 Matt Kenseth was running in 11th place but his car slapped the wall hard. He came into pit on lap 123 under green. A caution for debris came out a few laps after he pitted which cemented him two laps down. Shortly afterwards he went to the garage.
