NASCAR Sprint Showdown Practice Notes
Martin Truex Jr. – Worked on a hybrid setup that would be good in qualifying and be good for 20 laps. 30 minutes into practice he didn’t like his front grip and his team made big adjustments. He said he was off early because of some bad tires. He said it’s good enough to do what he has to do tonight.

Paul Menard – “It’s tight center and loose off but better. It’s pretty decent here”. That comment came after he completed 9 laps. 30 minutes into practice he didn’t like an adjustment done to his car and said he liked his car better the other way. He said it lost grip and was too tight with those adjustments 30 minutes into practice. Later in practice after completing two laps (probably testing his qualifying trim) he said, “It’s decent there. Let’s put some tires on it.”
Danica Patrick – Following her first run in practice she said her car was way too loose. Later in practice she said she was still twitchy off the corners. 30 minutes into practice she had no front grip and said, “I’m hitting the skirt, maybe the splitter, too.” 50 minutes into practice she wanted her team to focus on her entry. Towards the end of practice she said her car was much more predictable.
Chase Elliott – His plan is to get track time this session. 40 minutes into practice he seemed to like his car and said it was turning better. He said he would just like to be able to get back to the power sooner.
