Daytona Coke Zero 400 NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
“Early Big One” – 9 minutes into practice a “Big One” ensued. The drivers collected were Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Sam Hornish Jr., Trevor Bayne, Michael Annett and Jamie McMurray. ALL OF THESE DRIVERS ARE GOING TO A BACKUP CAR. Link To A Video Of The Wreck.
30 minutes into practice Stewart Haas Racing and some Hendrick drivers teamed up to run in a single file draft.
Jimmie Johnson – Attempted to run by himself at the start of practice but after completing one lap he ran into the back of a pack where he completed about 3 laps before pulling into the garage. Later he did single car runs by himself.
Kyle Busch – He spent the session trying to figure out his car before he got collected in the early “Big One”
Austin Dillon – Started practice making single file runs. He was happy with his car. He had some splitter issues but fortunately that kept him out of the wreck.
