Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Watkins Glen Cheez-It 355
Justin Allgaier – Justin Allgaier has one race at Watkins Glen under his belt. Last year he started 15th and finished 17th. It should be noted his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 3 while he was running in the mid-teens he came to pit road for some sort of issue. It was never mentioned in the broadcast but it’s safe to assume it likely wasn’t pit strategy. That was a pretty big setback. He did use some pit strategy to advance through the field but over the final 35 laps he typically ran within 4 deviations of 21st. At the other serpentine track on the schedule Allgaier has struggled. Earlier this year at Sonoma he finished 35th. Last year he finished 33rd. In the Nationwide Series Allgaier is a former winner on this track type.
David Ragan – David Ragan won’t be confused for a road course ringer anytime soon. At Watkins Glen he’s been a consistent driver. He has a 25.1 average finish and he’s had a result between 19th and 32nd every race. In the last three Watkins Glen races he’s recorded a new best finish every event. In 2014 he finished 19th, in 2013 he finished 21st and in 2012 he finished 22nd. One attribute I like about Ragan this week is his car. MWR makes some of the best road course cars and at Sonoma earlier this he was top fifteen good until he wrecked.

Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick has been consistent at Watkins Glen. In both races she started near the back and finished around 20th. Last year she started dead last and finished 21st. In the race she finished right where she should’ve and her average running position was 26th. It should also be noted her race wasn’t incident free. She sustained nose damage from Newman’s big wreck. The damage looked bad but it didn’t appear to impact her level of performance. In 2013 she made her Watkins Glen debut. She started in 35th, had a 25th place average running position and finished 20th. In both her Sprint Cup starts at Watkins Glen she’s raced 8.9% percent of the laps inside the top fifteen. At Sonoma earlier this season she finished 24th.
David Gilliland – At Watkins Glen David Gilliland currently has three straight results in the twenties. His finishes over this span are 22nd, 25th and 20th. If you pick him at Watkins Glen you can probably expect another result around that range. At Sonoma earlier this year Gilliland wrecked and finished dead last.
Boris Said – Boris Said will return to action this week behind the wheel of the #32. Earlier this year when he piloted that car at Sonoma he started in 33rd and finished 26th. In the last three Watkins Glen races Said has driven the #32. In those events he finished 22nd, 25th and 25th. His overall Watkins Glen average finish is 24.3.
