Darlington Race Notes
Kevin Harvick started on the pole and choose to start in the outside lane.
On the first lap in turn 1 Joey Logano took the lead from Kevin Harvick. He went on to lead the first 37 laps.
Jimmie Johnson started in 26th and early in the race he said his car was so tight it felt like something might be wrong.
Jamie McMurray’s car looked strong running the high-line early.

22 laps into the race Joey Logano started catching lapped traffic. Logano liked his car but it got loose over the opening long run.
Jeff Gordon was very good over a long run. He was in 3rd on lap 27.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. started in 15th and on lap 28 he was in 7th.

Notable Moment: On lap 38 Jeff Gordon passed Joey Logano for the lead.
On lap 41 the first caution came out when Ryan Truex got into thew all.
On the restart following the first caution Jeff Gordon lost the lead to Kevin Harvick and also lost 2nd to Kyle Busch.
On lap 59 Travis Kvapil got into the wall and brought out a caution. During the Kvapil caution Kenseth, Hamlin, Almirola, Annett and Kahne used pit strategy and only took two tires which got them up to the front.

Michael Annett ran notably well early in the 7 car.
Joey Logano didn’t like his car on lap 78. At that time he was running in 10th.
On lap 93 Annett got into the wall and brought out the caution. He was running just outside the top 20 at the moment.

On lap 125 Cole Whitt got into the wall and brought out the caution.

Kasey Kahne really liked his car on lap 161. He was in 5th at the time.

Around lap 167 Aric Almirola got lapped by Kevin Harvick.
On lap 175 Kasey Kahne pitted under green. During the prior pit stop he couldn’t fill his car up with gas all the way. Regular pit stops didn’t begin for about another 5 laps.
Notable Moment: Around lap 179 Denny Hamlin missed pit road when he was trying to come in for a pit stop. After that round of pit stops was complete he cycled to about 12th in the running order. Prior to his issue he was running around 8th.
Fresh tires meant a lot and because Kahne pitted first he cycled to the lead.
