New Hampshire Race Notes

Carl Edwards started on the pole and selected the outside lane. He led the first 19 laps. In the race he was good over short runs but over long runs he got tight.

Denny Hamlin fell back a few positions early. His car was very tight on entry and said he couldn’t put the throttle down.

On lap 20 Kyle Busch passed Carl Edwards for the lead.

On lap 23 the first caution came out. Not everyone pitted. The notable front runners who came to pit road were Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin.

Jimmie Johnson didn’t have a good car early. His car was tight in the center

68 laps into the race Kevin Harvick ran a little higher line around the turns and made very good speed. He was in 4th at the time.

Kurt Busch really liked his car over long runs.

Notable Moment: During green flag pit stops around lap 83 Matt Kenseth was caught speeding on pit road. He was running in the top ten before his problem. The penalty dropped him back to the thirties, one lap down.

Kevin Harvick really liked his car over long runs.

During Jeff Gordon’s 2nd pit stop on lap 91 he said he didn’t like his car over long runs.

Notable Moment: On lap 98 the caution came out for debris on the track. During that caution Alex Bowman’s car was on fire. During this caution Matt Kenseth took the wave around.

Big Moment: During the Alex Bowman caution Kyle Larson got some sort of pit penalty which dropped him two laps down (wasn’t mentioned in the telecast). He served the penalty when the race went back to green.

On lap 118 the third caution came out. Clint Bowyer didn’t have a good car. During that caution it was evident he had contact with the wall at some point.

During the third caution Jimmie Johnson had big changes made to his car because he said it wasn’t under him all race long.

During the third caution Tony Stewart got the free pass.
