Homestead Ford EcoBoost 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Ryan Newman – Since 2010 at Homestead Ryan Newman has finished in the top 7 every other race. Last year he had a strong performance when he was competing for the championship. He started deep in the field in 21st but he slowly climbed his way up through the running order. Late in the race he was challenging for the win but Harvick was just too strong. In the race Newman finished 2nd, earned the 4th best driver rating and had an 8th place average running position. In 2013 Newman wasn’t a factor and was a mid-teens performer. In the race he started 15th, had a 15th place average running position, earned the 15th best driver rating and finished 17th. In 2012 he walked away with a 3rd place result. That finish is somewhat misleading because he had about a 10th place car. In the race he was aided by how the end played out when fuel mileage entered the equation. In the race he started in 19th, had a 10th place average running position and earned the 8th best driver rating. His next two most recent Homestead results were finishes of 12th and 7th. This year at 1.5 mile tracks Newman has been a solid performer. (Yahoo A Driver)

Austin Dillon – If you’re looking for a sleeper pick at Homestead consider Austin Dillon. I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from him in the last few races at high-speed intermediate tracks. At Michigan he finished 4th, at Chicagoland he was top ten good until he pounded the wall, at Charlotte he finished 7th, at Kansas he was top five good until he pounded the wall and at Texas he finished 11th. At Homestead Dillon has one race under his belt and there’s a good chance that performance will keep him off many people’s fantasy radar. In last years season finale he started 24th, finished 25th, had a 19th place average running position and earned the 21st best driver rating. (Yahoo B Driver)

Kasey Kahne – Kasey Kahne has performed well at Homestead. In four of the five races since 2010 he’s finished between 6th and 13th. In the one race over this stretch he finished outside of that range he was likely around 10th place good but he had to pit at the end for fuel. Last fall Kahne had a solid showing despite starting in 23rd. In the race he finished 12th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 11th best driver rating. In 2013 Kahne had an OK performance and finished right where he should’ve. In the race he started 13th, finished 13th, earned the 12th best driver rating and had a 16th place average running position. His average running position is slightly skewed because with about 100 laps to go he made an unscheduled pit stop that dropped him down a lap. Before he made his unexpected stop he was running right around 14th. With 79 laps to go he got back on the lead lap. In 2012 at Homestead Kasey Kahne finished 21st but his car was a lot better than that. His poor finish can largely be attributed to pit strategy and how the end of the race played out. In the event he started in 12th, earned the 11th best driver rating, had a 10th place average running position and led 7 laps. In the next two most recent Homestead races he had results of 6th and 7th. This year at 1.5 mile tracks Kahne has shown potential but all too often he’s burned people who have picked him.
