Kasey Kahne – You can’t count out Kasey Kahne at Atlanta. It’s a great track for him and ranks as one of his best. At Atlanta Kahne’s been to victory lane three-times. In his career at Atlanta Kahne has finished in the top five 37% percent of the time, and in the top ten 47% percent of the time. In 53% percent of his starts he’s finished in the top fourteen. It should be noted that when he hasn’t finished in the top fourteen he’s finished very poorly. In the 9 races he’s finished outside the top 14 he has a 33.1 average finish. Last year at Atlanta Kasey Kahne had a good car and finished 14th. It should be noted he performed better than his result. With about 30 laps to go while he was running around 7th he had a tire violation on pit road and had to serve a pass through penalty. In addition to finishing 14th it should also be noted Kahne earned the 7th best driver rating and had an 8th place average running position. In 2014 Kahne raced his way to victory lane. Late in that race Kahne took the lead following a restart. In the event Kahne started in 10th, had a 12th place average running position, earned the 6th best driver rating and led 25 laps. Prior to 2014 he was in a tough stretch at Atlanta. In the four races before 2014 he had a 31.25 average finish. (Yahoo B Driver) (DraftKings – $8,400)

Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman should contend for a solid result at Atlanta. Over the last three Atlanta races Newman has a 7.3 average finish, 10.7 average running position and the 8th best driver rating. Currently at Atlanta Newman has three straight top tens, that ranks as the longest active streak in the series. Last year Newman had a solid afternoon and the number you need to know about him is 10. He finished 10th, had a 10th place average running position and earned the 10th best driver rating. In 2014 he also had a solid performance. He started 4th, finished 7th, earned the 9th best driver rating and had a 12th place average running position. Performance wise he finished a little better than how he ran. Some late pit strategy helped him get near the front at the end and then he hung on for a good result. In 2013 at Atlanta Newman finished 5th. What’s notable about that finish is that it tied his all-time best Atlanta result. In the race Newman ran well throughout the event. From lap 90 to the conclusion of the race he was a driver who consistently ran in the top ten. Over the final 100 laps I would estimate his average running position was around 3rd. Also in the race he earned the 7th best driver rating and had a 10th place average running position. In 2012 Newman had about a 13th place car but was involved in a multi-car wreck with 56 laps to go. Last year in races when the 2016 rules package was used Newman finished 13th (Darlington) and 20th (Kentucky). (Yahoo B Driver) (DraftKings – $6,900)

Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson will be a driver to watch at Atlanta. I think the new rules package should play to his favor. Last year with this rule package he ran well. At Kentucky in 2015 he had top ten potential until he had trouble. Darlington is the other race where the new rules package was used and he finished 10th there. Atlanta is a track made for Larson. It lacks grip which forces drivers to search for speed and that can be found running the high-line which is a strength of Larson’s. Last year Larson didn’t have the greatest race. He started 6th, had a 15th place average running position and finished 26th. His car wasn’t great but he was better than his result. He was on pace to finish around 17th but with 21 laps to go he was involved in a multi-car accident which led to his misleading result. In 2014 he had an OK race. He started 3rd, finished 8th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 13th best driver rating. If it wasn’t for the late restarts he likely would’ve finished around 13th.
