Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Atlanta
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott will be a driver to watch very closely at Atlanta. It’s going to set the early benchmark for what should be expected from him at 1.5 mile tracks. In the Xfinity Series at Atlanta Elliott has two starts under his belt and in both events he finished 5th. Performance wise at Atlanta I think Chase Elliott will likely be mid-teens good. Atlanta is a great track for Hendrick Motorsports and Chase Elliott will have a fast car underneath him.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney was a volatile driver at intermediate tracks last year with all of his engine failures. I will note I think his team will be able to avoid those “sudden detonations” because they’ll need to play it safer from an engine perspective because points matter now. Before I think they were trying out different things for Penske Racing. Performance wise I think Ryan Blaney will likely be a mid-teens to mid-twenties performer. Last year in incident free races he typically finished within that range. Texas is the most similar track he raced at last year and in both of those events he finished 43rd after having problems early. The next most similar track from a tire-wear perspective is Homestead and at that venue he finished 17th.

Ty Dillon – Ty Dillon will be driving the #14 at Atlanta in place of Tony Stewart (Not official at the time of this posting but it will happen). I think his likely finish range is mid-teens to low-twenties. He’s in a quality ride but it’s been a while since the #14 was fast. Last year in the Xfinity Series at Atlanta Dillon finished 3rd. In 2014 he finished 9th. The deciding factor if you use him or not comes down to how many more races you expect him to drive the #14.
Brian Scott – Brian Scott might prove himself to be a quality Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR option this week. I’m basing his fantasy value of how well his teammate Aric Almirola has performed at Atlanta. In Almirola’s last two Atlanta races he finished 9th and 11th. In 2015 at Atlanta in the lower series Brian Scott started 2nd and finished 7th. Last year in the Sprint Cup series in Scott’s last two races he finished 12th (Kansas) and 14th (Texas). Don’t overlook Scott this week.
Chris Buescher – Don’t get your hopes up too much on Chris Buescher this week. I think he’s likely low-twenties to high-twenties good. Roush has struggled on this track type in recent year’s and I think he’s essentially in their B equipment, how good can that be? Last year at Atlanta in the lower series Buescher finished 4th.
