Dover Pre-race Notes
Qualifying was canceled due to inclement weather and the starting grid was set by points.
Teams only had about 20 minutes of total practice time during the race weekend.
Martin Truex Jr. started in the rear of the field for unapproved adjustments.
Dover Race Notes
Matt Kenseth started on the pole and led the first 23 laps. Kenseth opted to start in the outside lane.
On lap 3 Jeb Burton spun and brought out the first caution. He didn’t appear to get any damage.
Kevin Harvick’s car was very strong. He was able to slice and dice his way up through the running order at will. His team used an old Dover race setup.
On lap 17 Martin Truex Jr. was up to 27th. He started in the rear of the field.

Kevin Harvick started in 15th. On lap 24 he passed Matt Kenseth for the lead. He then led the next 18 laps until the competition caution.

Kevin Harvick’s car could hug the bottom of the track better than anyone.
At the time of the competition caution on lap 40 only 28 cars were on the lead lap.
During the competition caution Matt Kenseth led 1 lap because of where his pit stall was located. Kevin Harvick then led the next 70 laps.
Big Moment: During the competition caution Denny Hamlin was caught speeding on pit road. He got off pit road first but the penalty dropped him back to the high-twenties.
Big Moment: During the competition caution Jimmie Johnson was caught speeding on pit road. Johnson was running in the top five at the time. It dropped him back to the high-twenties.

On lap 60 Joey Logano reported that his car was very manageable.
On lap 61 Ryan Newman was really happy with his car and liked his balance.

On lap 103 Kevin Harvick had a 5 second lead. Kyle Busch said the #4 car was really stuck to the race track.
Big Moment: On lap 104 Jimmie Johnson was on pit road for an unexpected stop. Shortly afterwards he went to the garage. He had a broken rear axle seal.
On lap 113 a caution came out for debris on the track. During this caution Ryan Newman got the free pass.

On lap 139 Jimmie Johnson returned to the track.
On lap 148 Newman was in 19th and Kevin Harvick lapped him.

Notable Moment: Around lap 170 Clint Bowyer pitted under green for a loose wheel. This dropped him two laps down into the twenties. He was running around 8th before he pitted.
