Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Daytona
Every week in NASCAR there’s drivers who have problems in the race and walk away with an asterisk mark result. Understanding misleading finishes and knowing how good drivers truly were can help give you the edge on your competition. Many fantasy racers just look at results and assume that’s how good drivers were. This post explains who had a misleading result earlier this year at Daytona, and how good they truly were.
Matt Kenseth – Matt Kenseth had a great car at Daytona earlier this year but walked away with a misleading 14th place finish. Strength wise he earned the #2 position in our exclusive PROS Rankings. His afternoon unraveled on the last lap when he went up the track to block Hamlin but failed which led to him having contact with the wall and losing momentum.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. was a fantasy let down in the Daytona 500 and finished 36th. “Amelia”, his favorite chassis was OK, but not great in the race. His afternoon unraveled when he got loose and wrecked coming off turn 4 with 30 laps to go. When that happened he was running around the low teens. If his afternoon would’ve been incident free I think he would’ve come home with a top ten finish.
