Indianapolis Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Trevor Bayne – With Trevor Bayne having increased performances this year I think he has a great chance to sneak in a teens result. Pocono is the most similar track on the schedule and earlier this year at that venue he finished 13th. At Indy Bayne has 5 races under his belt and his average finish is 31.6. Last year Bayne finished 40th after being involved in a late accident. In 2014 nobody had a shorter race then him. On lap 97 he spun and hit the guard rail. After that he radioed his team and said he “killed his car”. That marked the end of his day and led to a 43rd place finish. At the time of the wreck he was running in 19th place. In 2013 he started in 28th and finished 28th. Also in the race he earned the 28th best driver rating, had a 29th place average running position and finished 1 lap down. In 2012 he had his best result and finished 17th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick has dark horse sleeper value at Indy. Her 33.0 average finish should do a great job scaring people away from her. Last year at Indy she finished 27th. Performance wise she was really low to mid-teens good. Her misleading result is largely the product of bad late pit strategy. In the race Patrick had a 16th place average running position, earned the 17th best driver rating and ran 56.1% percent of the laps inside the top fifteen. In 2014 she ran quite well but her afternoon wasn’t incident free. On lap 68 she was running in 13th, but when she left her pit stall she broke her rear axle. Shortly after that she limped out on the track and brought out a caution during the pit cycle. When the checkered flag waved she finished 46 laps down in 42nd. At Pocono earlier this year Patrick was teens good until she was caught up in a wreck. (Yahoo B Driver)
AJ Allmendinger – Indy hasn’t been a good track for AJ Allmendinger. He’s only finished in the top ten once and that was in 2008 which was a tire debacle. Since then his best finish is 16th. Over his last four Indy races he’s finished between 18th and 23rd. In the #47 car at the “Brickyard” (2 races) he has a 20.5 average finish, 26.0 average running position and the 27th best driver rating. Last year he didn’t run well but it should be noted his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 17 he made an unexpected pit stop because he thought he had a tire go down. When the checkered flag waved he finished 23rd, had a 29th place average running position and earned the 28th best driver rating. In 2014 Allmendinger didn’t have a good race and his 18th place finish is essentially the highest he ran all afternoon minus help from pit cycles. In addition to finishing 18th he also had a 23rd place average running position and earned the 24th best driver rating. At Pocono earlier this year AJ Allmendinger started deep in the field (32nd) but raced his way to a 16th place finish. (Yahoo B Driver)
