Pocono Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Joey Logano – Joey Logano is a good fantasy NASCAR pick at Pocono. Since the track was repaved in 2012 a solid case could be made that he’s been the best driver. Over the last five Pocono races he’s been top five strong every race. This spring he had a fast car. He started 2nd, finished 5th, earned the 7th best driver rating and led 17 laps. What makes his result even more notable is that his race wasn’t incident free because he got damage from contact with Newman that dropped him back in the running order. Last August he had the car to beat but ran out of fuel late while leading which led to his misleading 20th place finish. From that race it should be noted he earned the best driver rating, had a 3rd place average running position and led 97 laps. In spring 2015 he started in the rear of the field and overcame a speeding penalty to finish 4th. In August 2014 Logano was a consistent front runner. He started 2nd and led the first 30 laps. Also in the race he finished 3rd, earned the 3rd best driver rating and had a 5th place average running position. In June 2014 Logano was top 5 good but his engine couldn’t go the distance. It went south on him with 12 laps to go while he was running in 4th. In 2013 he swept the top ten with results of 7th and 10th. In June 2012 in the first race on the new surface he raced his way to victory lane. (Yahoo A Driver)

Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick has never won at Pocono but he’ll be one of the drivers to beat. Since he’s been in the #4 car at Pocono he’s been one of the strongest performers in the series. This spring he ran well and at times had the fastest car on the track. Unfortunately he really didn’t get to show his hand because he had to overcome a pit penalty and a caution that came out during an unfavorable time during a pit cycle. When the checkered flag waved he finished 9th and had a 10th place average running position. Last August he had a great car but finished 42nd after his engine blew up while he was racing for the lead on lap 20. In the two Pocono races prior to that he finished runner-up. In June 2015 he had a great car and was the only driver who had anything for Truex Jr. In addition to finishing 2nd he earned the 2nd best driver rating, had a 3rd place average running position and led 39 laps. In August 2014 he had a great car. He finished 2nd, earned the 4th best driver rating and had a 9th place average running position. In June 2014 he was fast but his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 116 while he was running in 2nd he had a tire go down and he was forced to make an unscheduled pit stop. The flat tire dropped him all the way back to 32nd, one lap down. Later he got the “Lucky Dog” and rallied back to finish 14th. (Yahoo A Driver)
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski is poised for a strong showing at Pocono. He’s a former champion who’s finished in the top 3 in 3 of the last 5 races. Over the last two seasons he’s had one runner-up finish a year so he’s due for another. This spring he had a great car that had standout speed. Once his air pressures built up he had perhaps the fastest car on the track. In the race he started on the pole and finished 3rd. What makes his result more impressive is that his race wasn’t without adversity. During the first round of pit stops his crew made an adjustment to his car that wasn’t to NASCAR’s liking. A crew member hip checked his car in an aero sensitive area and NASCAR deemed it gave him a competitive advantage. They forced him to fix it and then serve a pass through penalty under green. Last August he finished 2nd. In that race he earned the 4th best driver rating and had a 15th place average running position. Strength wise he was about 6th place good but benefited slightly at the end when the competition ran out of gas. In June 2015 he had a good car but walked away with an asterisk mark 17th place finish. The source of his lack luster result can be traced to him running into the back of Brett Moffitt with 32 laps to go while he was running in 10th. Performance wise he had top five potential if his race would’ve been incident free. (Yahoo A Driver)
