Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Darlington
Jeff Gordon – Look for Jeff Gordon to run well on Sunday. For information on him make sure you read our Darlington Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings post.
Chase Elliott – Look for Chase Elliott to be competitive at Darlington. Drivers have to race the track and I think that fits his calm cool collected driving style. On Sunday night look for Chase Elliott to challenge for a top ten finish. Last year Chase Elliott raced at Darlington and finished 40th. It was a tough race for him. He qualified 22nd but had to start in the rear of the field because of a rear gear change. Performance wise he never really ran that well except for when he used pit strategy. It should be noted his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 229 he blew a right front tire and got into the wall hard. At the time of that incident he was running in 27th.

Ryan Blaney – Last year at Darlington Ryan Blaney made a start and finished 30th. He just didn’t run well. He started in 9th and fell back pretty quickly. 38 laps into the race he was back to 21st. On lap 96 he came down pit road after getting a significant Darlington Stripe which dropped him a lap down. Now that he has a start under his belt at the “Lady In Black” look for him to run much better and compete for a top ten. I think his likely finish range is in the low double digits.
Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher might be about 20th place good on Sunday. Darlington is a drivers track and that brings him into the equation more. Last year at Darlington in the Xfinity Series he finished 5th. In the Sprint Cup series he’s never raced here.
Regan Smith – Darlington on paper is Regan Smith’s best track. It’s the site of his lone win and his overall average finish is 17.7. It should be noted it’s been a while since he last raced here. His most recent race was in 2013 and in that event he finished 24th. In 2012 he finished 14th. In 2011 with pit strategy help, he raced his way to victory lane and held of Carl Edwards who was on superior tires at the end. Based on the way he’s performed this season I think a result around the mid-twenties is the most likely scenario.
Landon Cassill – Landon Cassill’s average finish at Darlington is 26.0. On Sunday I would look for him to finish around that range. In all 5 of his Darlington starts he’s finished between 20th and 30th. Last year at Darlington he had his best race ever and finished 20th.
