Richmond Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman is outside the Chase bubble but don’t count him out. He knows how to rise to the occasion when needed and Richmond is the perfect track for him to step up his game. A few years ago Newman raced his way into the playoffs at Richmond. Historically Richmond has been one of his best tracks. He’s been to victory lane once, has finished in the top ten 55% percent of the time and in the top fifteen 76% percent of the time. In only 2 of his 29 starts has he finished outside the top twenty. This spring at Richmond Newman had a good car but finished 18th. I will note I view that as a misleading result. He was really low double digits good. With 82 laps to go while he was running just outside the top ten he had a cut tire and spun. Additionally in the race he had a 15th place average running position and earned the 16th best driver rating. Last fall he finished 20th but you can’t read into that result too much because he was in “points protection mode” because of Chase ramifications. In the four RIR races prior to that he had a 7.8 average finish, the 8th best driver rating and an 11.3 average running position. His finishes over that stretch were results of 3rd, 8th, 9th and 11th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson has been very consistent at Richmond. His average finish is 13.2 and in all five of his races he’s finished between 11th and 16th. At Richmond he has top ten potential but it’s probably safe to assume he’ll finish within his typical finish range. This spring at Richmond he started 15th, finished 15th and had a 16th place average running position. Last fall he had a pretty good afternoon. Just before the mid-point it looked like he had top five potential. When the race reached its conclusion he earned the 10th best driver rating, had a 10th place average running position and finished 12th. In spring 2015 he had a quality performance and was a low double-digit driver throughout the event. In the race he started 12th, finished 12th, earned the 12th best driver rating and had a 13th place average running position. During his rookie season at RIR he finished 11th and 16th.
