Richmond Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is a dark horse driver at Richmond. When he has an incident free race at shorter flat tracks he’s capable of finishing well. In his one incident free race on this sub-track type in 2016 he had a result of 10th (New Hampshire). This spring at Richmond Stenhouse Jr. had a good long run car but finished 26th. That is a misleading result because his race wasn’t incident free. Performance wise I think he legitimately had top ten potential. On lap 264 while he was running just outside the top ten he made an unexpected pit stop for a vibration that dropped him two laps down. That put him in a big hole and he never bounced back from that. In his other six Richmond races he’s finished between 10th and 16th half the time. In fall 2015 he had a decent car and when the checkered flag waved he finished 16th and had a 19th place average running position. In the three RIR races prior to that he finished very poorly with results of 26th, 28th and 38th. In his first two Richmond races he had results of 10th and 16th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Aric Almirola – Richmond is a track where Aric Almirola is capable of sneaking in a good result. Currently in the fall race he has back to back top tens. Over the last four RIR races Almirola has a 13.8 average finish and a 17.8 average running position. This spring Almirola finished 21st but it should be noted he ran better than his result for much of the race. From the race it should be noted he had a 16th place average running position and ran nearly 50% percent of the race inside the top fifteen. Last fall Aric Almirola started in 24th but raced his way up to a 4th place finish. Through the first half of the race he ran mostly in the twenties but over the second half he got much better. Over the final 100 laps he had one of the fastest cars on the track and looked like a serious threat to win. In spring 2015 there was nothing special about his race. He finished 20th, had a 21st place average running position and earned the 22nd best driver rating. In fall 2014 he started in 26th and slowly climbed up to a 10th place finish. It’s hard to get to excited about his 10th place finish though. The race had four cautions and he was the “Lucky Dog” recipient twice. Also in the race he had the 16th best driver rating and an 18th place average running position. This year at other shorter flat tracks Almirola has results of 19th and 21st. (Yahoo B Driver)
