Chicagoland Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Greg Biffle – This year at 1.5 mile tracks Greg Biffle hasn’t been a great performer, but he also hasn’t been as bad as you’re likely thinking. For the season at tracks of this length minus Texas where he was taken out in a wreck he has a 15.4 average finish. At Chicagoland I think the most likely scenario for him is probably a high-teens finish. Over the last four Chicagoland races Biffle has an 18.3 average finish and a 19.0 average running position. Last year he was simply a low twenties performer. He finished 21st, had a 23rd place average running positoin and earned the 24th best driver rating. In 2014 he wasn’t even close to being competitive. He started 20th, had a 25th place average running position and finished 23rd. Also in the race he ran 0.0% percent of the laps inside the top fifteen. In 2013 he started in 7th, had a 12th place average running position and finished 16th. In 2012 he finished 13th and earned the 14th best driver rating. In the three Chicagoland races prior to that event he finished 26th or worse.

Aric Almirola – The #43 team just hasn’t shown much speed at 1.5 mile tracks this year. For the season at tracks of this length he has a 21.2 average finish and a 22.8 average running position. In the last five races at these venues he’s finished between 18th and 26th. On Sunday I think it’s safe to assume he’ll finish within that range again because it’s simply how the #43 team has stacked up this season. It’s a shame because he’s shown potential at Chicagoland in the past and has been top 13 good the last 3 races. Last year Almriola had his best Chicagoland race on paper. Throughout the event he ran well. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 10th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 13th best driver rating. In 95.5% percent of the laps he ran inside the top fifteen. In 2014 he finished 41st but that’s an extremely misleading result. He was top six good but with 36 laps to go his engine blew up. In 2013 he performed well. He started 15th, finished 13th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 10th best driver rating.
