Chicagoland Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick will be one of the drivers to beat at Chicagoland. He’s an elite Chicagoland performer and it ranks as one of his best intermediate tracks. In his career at Chicagoland he has 2 wins, has finished in the top five 53% percent of the time and in the top ten 60% percent of the time. If he didn’t have problems in last years Chicagoland race he would likely have 4 top 5’s in the last five races. Last year at Chicagoland Kevin Harvick had a great car that was likely top 3 good but unfortunately his race wasn’t incident free. While he was racing with Johnson for the lead on lap 135 shortly after a restart they had contact which cut his tire and sent him into the wall hard leading to his 42nd place finish. In 2014 he had a great car that was probably the best. In the race he earned the 2nd best driver rating, finished 5th, had a 5th place average running position and led the most laps (79). It should be noted his race wasn’t incident free. During the lap 67 caution he made an extra pit stop for a loose wheel which dropped him from 4th to 20th. In 2013 he ran very well. When the checkered flag waved he finished 3rd and earned the 7th best driver rating. This year at 1.5 tracks Kevin Harvick has been one of the premiere performers. He’s scored the most points, finished in the top ten every race and has a 6.0 average finish. (Yahoo A Driver)

Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. should be on your short list of favorites at Chicagoland. This year at 1.5 mile tracks he’s been one of the strongest. In the last three races at tracks of this length he’s been good enough to win. For the season at tracks of this length he has the best driver rating, best average running position (4.8), led the most laps (785), ran the most fastest laps (340) and has a misleading 8.2 average finish. Last year at Chicagoland Martin Truex Jr. had a great car that ranked as one of the best. From a performance perspective he was really about 5th place good. If your competition is just looking at his 13th place finish they’re really missing the big picture. During the final restart he was a big loser and lost quite a few positions back to 13th. Additionally in the race it should be noted he earned the 4th best driver rating, had a 5th place average running position and led 39 laps. In 2014 when he had a lost season he finished 14th but that’s really better than he ran for much of the race. His average running position that afternoon was 23rd. (Yahoo B Driver)
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch will be a factor at Chicagoland. He’s arguably been the best driver at 1.5 mile tracks this year and he’s been a fantasy ace at Chicagoland. This year at 1.5 mile tracks minus Charlotte where he was top ten good until he had trouble late he has a 4.2 average finish. At Chicagoland Kyle Busch has thrived. He’s a past champion and currently has 4 straight top tens. Over the last 3 Chicagoland races he’s been very strong. Over those events he has the best driver rating, best average running position (4.3), led the most laps by a wide margin (234) and has a 6.0 average finish. Last year at Chicagoland Kyle Busch was easily top 3 good. He would’ve finished in the top 3 if the late caution didn’t come out. When the checkered flag waved he finished 9th, had a 3rd place average running position, earned the best driver rating and led a race high 121 laps. In 2014 he ran well and was a consistent front runner. He finished 7th, had a 6th place average running position and led 46 laps. In 2013 Kyle Busch was going for the weekend sweep. He won in the Truck Series, won in the Xfinity Series but came up 1 position short of winning in the Sprint Cup Series. In the race he was a serious contender to win. A solid case could be made that he had the best car in the race. In the final third he was very strong and race winner Matt Kenseth only passed him during a late restart in which Harvick aided the 20 car in getting up to speed. In addition to finishing 2nd he earned the 2nd best driver rating, had a 4th place average running position and led 67 laps. In 2012 he finished 4th and earned the 4th best driver rating. In 2011 he was 8th place good but ran out of gas on the last lap. (Yahoo A Driver)
