Talladega Pre-race Notes
Tony Stewart started in the rear of the field because of a driver change. Ty Dillon qualified the #14 and was a relief driver at the time of the first caution.
Ryan Newman started in the rear of the field for unapproved adjustments.
David Gilliland drove the #35.
Michael Waltrip drove the #55.
Talladega Race Notes
Chase Elliott who started on the pole selected the low-line. He led the first 13 laps.
Coming to the completion of lap #1 the field was three-wide.
On lap 3 Hendrick cars were running 1,2,3 and 7.
The Joe Gibbs Racing cars were very fast and were able to maneuver well in traffic.

On lap 14 Matt Kenseth passed Chase Elliott for the lead. He then led the next 15 laps.
On lap 21 the front three were Kenseth, Hamlin and Truex Jr.
On lap 22 David Gilliland was the biggest mover in the race.

On lap 37 the first green flag pit cycle begun.
On lap 40 on pit road Paul Menard and Danica Patrick had contact with each other. Danica Patrick spun but didn’t get any notable damage.
During the first pit cycle Tony Stewart, Trevor Bayne and Landon Cassill all got penalties.
Following the first round of pit stops Kyle Busch got the lead and then led the next 10 laps.

Big Moment: On lap 50 the first caution came out when Dale Earnhardt Jr. lost control of his car. He then slid up the track and had contact with Kahne, Gilliland and DiBenedetto. Earnhardt Jr. was running around 10th at the time.
During the Dale Earnhardt Jr. caution Tony Stewart got the free pass and then came to pit road to climb out of his car and let Ty Dillon take over.
Notable Moment: During the Dale Earnhardt Jr. caution Denny Hamlin and Greg Biffle had contact on pit road. This dropped both drivers in the running order.
During the Earnhardt Jr. caution Michael Waltrip didn’t pit and as a result he got the lead. He led 1 lap before Matt Kenseth passed him and led the next 15.
Big Moment: On lap 59 while running in 3rd Michael Waltrip lost control of his car and spun. He side swiped Casey Mears who came up the track. Mears got a good amount of damage. Danica Patrick got the free pass from this incident.

Big Moment: On lap 98 a “Big One” ensued. Drivers who crashed were Johnson, Austin Dillon, Buescher, Edwards, Gilliland and Annett. At the time of the “Big One” Kevin Harvick was on pit road.
