Phoenix NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
Drivers Who Tested At Phoenix: Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Erik Jones, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ryan Blaney, Austin Dillon, Daniel Suarez, Michael McDowell, AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Ty Dillon.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Tested here and supposedly he was one of the more impressive drivers. Early in practice while he was in race trim he said, “It’s a slow and tight feeling.” Following his second run he said he was tight thru the center of the turns. He also said, “If I back the corner up, it’s slippery, tight down into the center.” Said his car was pretty good. Feels good about his speed.
Ryan Newman – Was parked the first 15 minutes because of inspection issues last week. Was in qualifying trim exclusively. Following his first run he said, “Pretty loose everywhere.”
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Tested here. Early in practice while he was in race trim he thought his car was on the splitter. His team went to qualifying trim an hour into practice. Following his first run in qualifying trim (jumped to 11th) he reported he was too loose.
Kasey Kahne – Started in race trim and appeared to have good speed among drivers who were preparing for the race. Went to qualifying trim about 40 minutes into practice.
