In NASCAR races there’s “What should happen”, and then there’s “What happens”
What should happen can be called “Chalk.” Chalk is essentially who is the favorite based on stats and other known information.
NASCAR races don’t always happen in a perfect world though and sticking to the baseline of favorites isn’t always the way to go. That’s why it’s important to use your “Gut”. Gut is essentially based on research and then adding some intuition to the mix.
