Richmond Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Trevor Bayne – Trevor Bayne has shown improvement at Richmond, each race he’s finished better than the one before. Hopefully that trend holds true. Last year at Richmond Bayne finished in the teens twice which is pretty good by his standards. Last fall he had his best RIR race. In the event he finished 14th, had a 13th place average running position and earned the 13th best driver rating. Last spring he started 17th and finished 17th. I will note he was slightly better than his result. He had a 16th place average running position and ran 38% percent of the laps inside the top fifteen. During his rookie season at Richmond he had results of 23rd and 24th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Austin Dillon – Richmond doesn’t rank as one of Austin Dillon’s better tracks. It’s home to his 17th best average finish (22.3) and in five of his six starts he’s finished between 20th and 27th. Some good news is that he didn’t have a bad 2016 at “The Action Track.” Last fall he had his most successful RIR race and when the checkered flag waved he finished a career best 13th. Additionally in the race he had a 12th place average running position and ran 84% percent of the laps in the top fifteen. In spring 2016 he ran well but finished a misleading 20th. He looked 10th to 15th place good but with 96 laps to go he made an unexpected pit stop that dropped him from 14th to 27th, one lap down. In fall 2015 he ran OK early but faded around the midpoint. When the checkered flag waved he finished 27th, had a 17th place average running position and earned the 18th best driver rating. In spring 2015 he was a non-factor also finishing 27th and having a 25th place average running position. (Yahoo B Driver)
Aric Almirola – Richmond has been a respectable track for Aric Almirola and he’s had some good performances here in the past. Over the last five RIR races his 14.4 average finish ranks as the 12th best in the series. Last fall at Richmond he crossed the finish line in 17th. That’s a respectable result when you take into account on lap 104 while he was running in 16th he had a flat tire and was off pace which led to an unexpected pit stop. In spring 2016 Almirola finished 21st but it should be noted he ran better than his result for much of the race. From the race it should be noted he had a 16th place average running position and ran nearly 50% percent of the race inside the top fifteen. In fall 2015 he had one of the fastest cars late in the race and when the checkered flag waved he finished 4th. (Yahoo B Driver)
