Richmond NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Austin Dillon – Will lose his pit stall selection and will start in the rear of the field on Sunday as a penalty (failed tech inspection five times last week). Has a new crew chief this week (Sammy Johns). Was in race trim the entire session. The handling of his car was tight. Didn’t like his car and he tried using Menard’s setup which I think helped.

AJ Allmendinger – Will lose his pit stall selection. Was in qualifying trim exclusively this session.

Erik Jones – Spun 10 minutes into practice and got a little damage to his rear bumper (nothing to worry about). He said he was loose into the turns after spinning. Was likely in qualifying trim exclusively this session.

Kyle Busch – Said his car feels pretty good but he didn’t quite have the speed he wanted during a late run.

Kevin Harvick – 35 minutes into practice after he completed 23 laps he said, “That’s horrible.”
