Fantasy NASCAR The Low Tier – Talladega
Landon Cassill – Landon Cassill is capable of sneaking in good results at Talladega. In 3 of the last 6 races he’s finished in the top 11. That level of fantasy production is worth a roll of the dice. Last fall at Talladega he was a low-twenties driver. When the checkered flag waved he finished 21st and had a 23rd place average running position. Last spring he started deep in the field in 32nd but dodged the late carnage and finished 11th. In 2015 he had a tough year at Talladega and had results of 34th and 39th. In 2014 he had results of 4th and 11th. (Yahoo C Driver)
Cole Whitt – If you’re looking to pick Cole Whitt, Talladega isn’t a bad place to pick him. Over the last four races he had a 17.0 average finish. In 3 of the last 4 races he’s finished in the teens. Last fall he didn’t participate in the race. In spring 2016 he escaped with an 18th place finish. In fall 2015 he finished 22nd. In the two races prior to that he had very respectable results of 13th and 15th. (Yahoo C Driver)

Michael McDowell – Michael McDowell hasn’t had a high-level of success at Talladega. He has a 29.4 average result and has only finished in the top fifteen once. His one result in the top fifteen was a 15th. Some good news is that last year he had a good season by his standards. In October 2016 he had his second best Talladega race. In the event he earned the 13th driver rating, had a 15th place average running position and finished 16th. In spring 2016 he finished 21st. In the three races prior to that he finished 28th or worse. At Daytona McDowell has had some recent success having three straight results between 10th and 15th. (Yahoo C Driver)
David Ragan – David Ragan is a former Talladega winner (spring 2013) but recently his results have been really bad. Currently he has six straight results of 24th or worse. Over that stretch he has a 31.8 average finish and the 28th best driver rating. The spring races have typically been tougher on him recently with three straight results between 34th and 38th. Last fall he had his best recent result and crossed the finish line in 24th. In spring 2016 the attrition rate was super high and his day ended early with an engine failure (finished 34th). In 2015 he had results of 30th and 38th. In this years Daytona 500 David Ragan finished 25th. (Yahoo C Driver)
Chris Buescher – It’s hard to be high on Chris Buescher at Talladega. On plate tracks he’s had zero success to date. In 4 of his 6 starts on this track type he’s finished 35th or worse. Some good news is that his two finishes better than 35th were both at Talladega. Last fall he had his best Talladega race but keep in mind the bar is extremely low. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 22nd and had a 19th place average running position. In spring 2016 he wrecked and finished 37th. In spring 2015 he finished 24th and had a 25th place average running position. In this years Daytona 500 Buescher finished 35th. If Buescher has an incident free race I think I would write him down for a low-twenties finish. (Yahoo B Driver)
