Talladega Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions

AJ Allmendinger – In recent plate races AJ Allmendinger ranks as one of the better drivers in the series. Over the last four races on this track type he has a 10.0 average finish and has had a result in the top 14 every race. Typically at plate tracks AJ Allmendinger rides around in the back until the end and as you can see that strategy has worked pretty well for him recently. At Talladega since 2012 minus fall 2015 Allmendinger has a 13.8 average finish. In 2016 at Talladega Allmendinger had a pretty good season. Last fall he was a solid mover, he started in 32nd and raced his way up to a 10th place finish. In spring 2016 he dodged the carnage and finished 14th. In fall 2015 he had some sort of issue on pit road that brought his car to a halt and that led to his 36th place finish. In this years Daytona 500 AJ Allmendinger finished 3rd. (Yahoo B Driver)

Aric Almirola – Aric Almirola has been a solid performer at Talladega, when he doesn’t wreck. Since 2014 minus the two races he was involved in accidents he’s finished between 8th and 16th every race. Over this six race stretch minus the two races he crashed he has a 13.0 average finish and the 17th best driver rating (among active drivers). Last fall Almirola had his best Talladega race and when the checkered flag waved he finished 8th. In spring 2016 Almirola was involved in an accident and finished 27th. In 2015 he finished in the mid-teens twice with results of 15th and 16th. In fall 2014 he ran well but was a victim of “Big One.” In spring 2014 he finished 13th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Kasey Kahne – Talladega hasn’t been a friendly track for Kasey Kahne in recent seasons. In 4 of the last 8 races he’s finished 34th or worse. That makes it extremely hard to pick him with confidence, especially when you consider he’s wrecked the last 4 races! Last fall he maybe showed mid-teens potential at best but was collected in a late wreck that led to his 35th place finish. Last spring he ran well but was collected in a wreck. Later when he returned to the track in a damaged car he wrecked again which led to his 39th place finish. In fall 2015 Kahne ran well but finished 19th. He had solid top ten potential but was caught up in the late carnage. In addition to finishing 19th Kahne earned the 5th best driver rating, had an 8th place average running position and led 18 laps. In spring 2015 he also ran well but was collected in a wreck while he was running around 10th on lap 47.  In this years Daytona 500 Kahne had a solid race and crossed the finish line in 7th.
