The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads off to the Irish Hills of Michigan this weekend for the Firekeepers Casino 400. Michigan International Speedway is a 2-mile D-shaped oval that was repaved back in 2012. Since then, MIS has been the fastest track on the circuit, and there’s so much grip in the track that drivers can easily choose whether they want to run around the bottom, in the middle lane, or up toward the wall. As far as similar tracks go, Fontana–where we raced back in March–is the closest, as it is also a 2-mile track. Kyle Larson won that race from the pole this year, and he’s also the most recent winner here at Michigan.
