Michigan Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Michigan ranks as one of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s better tracks. He’s a past champion and in recent races he’s run really well. In 4 of the last 5 MIS races he’s finished in the top ten. This year at intermediate tracks he hasn’t been competitive. Performance wise I think writing him down for a mid-teens to high-teens finish isn’t a bad idea. Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s most recent Michigan race was last spring. He didn’t run that well and was collected in a wreck about a quarter thru the race. In the four Michigan races prior to that he had a 6.0 average finish and an 8.5 average running position. In August 2015 when the high-down force package was used he finished 10th. In spring 2015 he had a strong showing. He finished 2nd, earned the 4th best driver rating and had a 6th place average running position. In 2014 Earnhardt Jr. swept the top ten with results of 5th and 7th. (Yahoo A Driver)

Ty Dillon – Ty Dillon has been a mid to high-teens driver many times this year at intermediate tracks. Hopefully that trend will continue at MIS. Kansas and Auto Club are the two most similar tracks visited and at those venues he had respectable results of 14th (Kansas) and 18th (Auto Club). At Michigan Dillon has two starts under his belt in NASCAR’s top series. Last spring when he drove the #95 he finished 24th. I don’t think that car was the equivalent of what he’s driving now so I wouldn’t read into that too much. In spring 2015 I think his car was likely RCR prepared and in that event he finished 14th.
