Sonoma NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes

Chase Elliott – Totaled his car near the end of practice and will be driving a backup car on Sunday. Will be able to start where he qualifies.

Erik Jones – Will be going to a backup car. Crashed in turn 11 into a tire barrier after wheel hopping. He was doing a mock qualifying run at the time.When he got back out on the track he was in qualifying trim. Will be able to start where he qualifies.

Martin Truex Jr. – Really liked his speed in race trim and qualifying trim. Started in race trim and was fast. AJ Allmendinger thought the #78 was really good.

AJ Allmendinger – Happy with his car. It’s said to be the best car he’s had here. 45 minutes into practice he said, “that’s the best balance I’ve felt. A little bit tighter, but the best I’ve felt all day.” Made a 20 lap run on sticker tires. Said his car is really good. Said he’s in the ball park.

Danica Patrick – Happy with her balance in her race car. Started practice in qualifying trim.
