The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is at Watkins Glen International for the second (and final) road course race of the season. Sonoma is the other road course on the schedule this year, and while they both have right and left turns, they’re pretty different race tracks. Watkins Glen is a much faster track, as there’s only seven turns paired with high-speed straightaways. This obviously puts a higher emphasis on saving your brakes. Some drivers are good at both road courses, and some are polar opposites, so simply going off of Sonoma’s results in June isn’t the best idea. For what it’s worth, though, Kevin Harvick won at Sonoma and does have a victory here at Watkins Glen, although that was back in 2006.
