Talladega Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Matt Kenseth – I really like Matt Kenseth at restrictor plate tracks, but recently times haven’t been good for him, at either venue. Talladega has been especially brutal to him recently. In 7 of the last 8 races he’s finished 20th or worse. Currently he has five straight results between 23rd and 28th. This spring he didn’t have a great race and got some damage in the “Big One” with twenty laps to go which led to his 24th place finish. Last fall because of playoff implications he just rode around in the back and finished 28th. In spring 2016 he had a strong car and easily looked top ten good but was collected in a late wreck. Prior to wrecking it should be noted he led 39 laps which ranked as the second most. This year at plate tracks Matt Kenseth has crashed every race and has a 30.3 average finish. (Yahoo A Driver)

AJ Allmendinger – AJ Allmendinger has been a pretty respectable performer in recent plate races. Since spring 2016 at Talladega minus the Talladega race this year he has a 9.6 average finish. This spring at Talladega it appeared he had a good car and was racing at the front of the pack but he was collected in the “Big One” with 20 laps to go which led to his 31st place finish. Two laps prior to his wreck he was running in 4th. In the two Talladega races prior to that he ran well. Last fall he was a solid mover, he started in 32nd and raced his way up to a 10th place finish. In spring 2016 he dodged the carnage and finished 14th. This year at Daytona Allmendinger has swept the top ten with results of 3rd and 8th. If you’re looking for a sleeper option don’t over look him. He has nothing to race for besides the win, and I expect him to be aggressive. (Yahoo B Driver)
Kasey Kahne – Kasey Kahne has enjoyed success at plate tracks in 2017, but there’s nothing safe about picking him at Talladega. Over the last 9 Talladega races he has five results of 34th or worse. This spring he had his best recent result and snapped his four race streak of finishing 19th or worse. This spring when the checkered flag waved he finished 5th. In the four races prior to that he wrecked. Last fall he maybe showed mid-teens potential at best but was collected in a late wreck that led to his 35th place finish. In spring 2016 he ran well but was collected in a wreck. Later when he returned to the track in a damaged car he wrecked again which led to his 39th place finish. In fall 2015 Kahne ran well but finished 19th. He had solid top ten potential but was caught up in the late carnage. In addition to finishing 19th Kahne earned the 5th best driver rating, had an 8th place average running position and led 18 laps. In spring 2015 he also ran well but was collected in a wreck while he was running around 10th on lap 47. This year at plate tracks Kahne has been good. Over the three combined races he’s scored the 4th most points and has a 10.0 average finish. (Yahoo B Driver)
