Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Homestead

Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. had a really good car last year and was easily top ten good but finished an asterisk mark 36th. In the race he had a long pit stop early that plummeted him in the running order, he was burned by a caution during the pit cycle (running in 7th prior to that problem), and then during the “Big One” he was caught up in the carnage. In our exclusive PROS Rankings we have him ranked as having the 7th best car.

Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski had a strong showing at Homestead last year but finished an Asterisk Mark 35th. Late in the race he was caught up in the “Big One” when Logano wrecked Edwards. Performance wise, Keselowski was easily top ten good. His average running position for the race despite his problem was 8th. In 2015 in our PROS Rankings he was ranked as having the best car.

Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney had a tough time at Homestead last year. He got into the wall early, and often. He first got into the wall on lap 23, on lap 28 he got into it again harder which brought out the first caution and dropped him a lap down. With 63 laps to go he had a tire problem and got into it again. When the checkered flag waved he finished 26th. Since he had his first problem so early it’s hard to project how good he was.

Aric Almirola – To be honest I’m not quite sure what happened to Aric Almirola last year at Homestead. Whatever his issue was it was pretty bad because he finished dead last. I’m sure his problem was likely under his hood because I didn’t see any high-light reel of him nailing the wall and he slowly faded back in the running order. Performance wise, Almirola didn’t have a good race and never really ran better than the mid-twenties.
