Every week in NASCAR there’s drivers who have problems in the race and walk away with an asterisk mark result. Understanding misleading finishes and knowing how good drivers truly were can help give you the edge on your competition. Many fantasy racers just look at results and assume that’s how good drivers were. This post explains who had a misleading result last year at Las Vegas, and how good they truly were.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch had a great car last year at Las Vegas and was top five good. On the final lap while he was running in 4th Joey Logano spun him which led to his misleading 22nd place finish. Him being in that position is extremely impressive when you take into account that during pit stops on lap 125 while he was running in 5th he was caught speeding on pit road which dropped him a lap down.
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski finished 5th, but that’s not reflective of how he performed. With 24 laps to go he passed Truex Jr. for the lead and was driving away. Unfortunately his race wasn’t incident free and he developed power issues in the closing laps. With 2 laps to go Truex Jr. passed him for the lead and his problem caused him to drop back to 5th.
