Charlotte NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
William Byron – Started out in race trim and did an opening run of 6 laps. It was basically to get a feel for his car and get acquainted to the track. His six lap run was the longest in practice #1. Following that mini-run he went to qualifying trim.
Kevin Harvick – Just focused on qualifying trim this session. Missed the final 15 minutes because of an inspection penalty. He ended the session 14th after running 3 laps.

Erik Jones – He said he had an OK practice. He was on the splitter some. Thinks he’ll be right there after fine tuning.
Austin Dillon – Focused on qualifying trim this session. Following his first run he said “I’m on the splitter in Turns 3 and 4. Balance is pretty good. Just tight on exit.” Following a run 35 minutes into practice he said he’s pretty good right there. Following that he made one more run before sitting for the final 15 minutes because of an inspection penalty. Dillon ended the session 4th.
Jimmie Johnson – Focused on qualifying trim. Said he wishes he was a little quicker. Only ran 3 laps and then had to sit the final 15 minutes because of an inspection penalty.
