We shouldn’t have to worry about rain affecting the next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race, as the teams will be heading out to wine country in Sonoma, California for the annual Toyota/Save Mart 350. This will be the first of three road course events this year, and these are always interesting races from a Fantasy NASCAR perspective. Not only does strategy come into play more often than not at these races, but the playing field is also leveled a bit because a good road course racer can overcome deficiencies in his equipment a lot easier on a road course as opposed to Michigan, for example, which is a high-horsepower track. Sonoma is a mentally exhausting track that features constant shifting, accelerating, braking, and turning. Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer finished 1-2 here last season, and they’re coming off of 1-2 finishes at Michigan, too, while the other SHR driver, Kurt Busch, is a previous winner at Sonoma as well. Will anybody be able to stop the Stewart-Haas cars? I wouldn’t bet against these guys right now.
