The Fantasy NASCAR Low Tier – Talladega
Matt DiBenedetto – Matt DiBenedetto has some dark horse fantasy value at Talladega. At Daytona, the other restrictor plate track on the schedule he’s finished in the top 13 in 3 of the last 4 races. In July at that venue he had his best result on this track type and finished 7th. At Talladega, his level of performance hasn’t been as high. He finished 19th this spring, and last year he had results of 18th and 31st.
Regan Smith – Regan Smith is a dark horse option at Talladega. He once crossed the finish line first on the last lap here until NASCAR deemed he went below the double yellow line and penalized him. In 2016, when he had most recent starts he had results of 25th and 32nd. In the two races prior to that he finished 5th and 6th.
Brendan Gaughan – Brendan Gaughan will be back at Talladega. This year he’s competed in all three plate races and has a 20.7 average finish. Daytona is the most recent plate track visited and at that venue he had his best result and finished 12th. At Talladega earlier this year he finished 22nd. Last year at Talladega he had results of 19th and 26th for the season.

Landon Cassill – Low-tier drivers are capable of sneaking in good results at plate tracks, and that includes Landon Cassill. In 3 of the last 8 races at Talladega he’s finished in the top 11. In the last three Talladega races he’s finished in the 20’s. This spring at Talladega he missed the race because he didn’t have a ride. Last year he had problems in both races and had a pair of high-twenties results (28th and 29th).
Ross Chastain – Ross Chastain has two restrictor plate starts under his belt and in both races he’s finished in the 20’s. He finished 21st at Daytona in July and at Talladega this spring, in his lone track start he finished 25th and had a 33rd place average running position.
