Las Vegas NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

NOTE: This session was all about teams trying to get good in qualifying trim. No team worked on race trim.

Joe Gibbs Racing – 25 minutes into practice they worked together in a draft. Late in practice they worked together again. They had great lap times.

Chip Ganassi Racing – They practiced drafting as an organization 25 minutes into practice. Their draft didn’t work very well.

JTG Daugherty Racing – They practiced drafting as an organization 35 minutes into practice.

Stewart-Haas Racing – As an organization they practiced drafting.

Penske Racing – Late in practiced they worked together as an organization.

Ty Dillon – Was in qualifying trim exclusively this session. Following his opening run he said, “I think we were on the splitter a little bit in both laps.” 25 minutes into practice while he was 16th he said, “Overall balance is just a little bit tight.”

Brad Keselowski – Tested here and was said to be very strong. Was in qualifying trim exclusively.

Austin Dillon – His opening run in qualifying trim put him at the top of the speed chart. When practice ended he remained at the top of the speed chart.
