Pocono NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
Daniel Suarez – In the closing minutes of practice he jumped to the top of the speed chart. He ended the session 1st. Said his car was pretty good and he was happy with it. Said he unloaded good. In second practice he planed on working on long runs.
Jimmie Johnson – Following his run he said his car is darty and has very little grip. 15 minutes into practice he was back in 28th. 30 minutes into practice his car was improved and he jumped up to 2nd on the speed chart (likely in qualifying trim). He ended the session 11th.
Brad Keselowski – He was reportedly pleased with his car. 30 minutes into practice he was 2nd on the speed chart. 45 minutes into practice he jumped to the top of the speed chart. He ended the session 5th.
Alex Bowman – His opening run put him 13th. Following his run he said, “Pretty free off of everywhere. I’m edgy free.” Following his second run he said his car was definitely better. He said he’s still a little free, but better. 30 minutes into practice while he was 14th he said, “That last lap would have been better, I just got tight in Turn 3. The tunnel turn was much better.” 40 minutes into practice he reported that an adjustment didn’t give him what he needed. In qualifying trim late he jumped up to 6th. In qualifying trim he was said to be free.
William Byron – Following his opening run which put him 29th he said, “So loose I really couldn’t drive it.” 30 minutes into practice while he was 28th he was said to be extremely loose. During a late run in qualifying trim he jumped up to 8th. “In the ballpark now, just numbed the front end in the exit of Turns 1 & 3”
