Kurt Busch who started on the pole lead the opening 37 laps. He opted to start in the outside lane.

Big Moment: On lap 15, Landon Cassill spun and got into the wall hard. This marked the end of his race. Landon Cassill started the race in the rear of the field in a backup car. A few drivers from mid-pack and back elected to pit during this caution.

Big Moment: On lap 20, AJ Allmendinger backed his car into the wall. He was running in 20th. This marked the end of his race.

Notable Moment: During the Stage #2 caution, Kyle Larson pitted twice because he thought he had loose lug nuts.

Notable Moment: During the stage #2 restart, Ty Dillon got a restart violation. He had to serve a drive through penalty. In Stage #1 he finished around 20th.

Around lap 130, Chase Elliott was really starting to close in on Martin Truex Jr. for the lead. On lap 132 he took the lead and then led the remainder of the Stage.

On lap 137 it was reported that Aric Almirola who was in 6th had the fastest car on the track.
