Darlington NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Alex Bowman – His opening run put him at the top of the speed chart. Following his run he said, “I need security on entry. I land free both ends and stay free all the way thru 1 and 2.” His 5 lap average ranked as the 2nd best.

Kurt Busch – A late qualifying jumped him up to 1st. He ended the session at the top of the speed chart. His 5 lap average ranked as the 10th best.

Martin Truex Jr. – He showed really good speed over his opening short run. He ended the session 10th. He had the 3rd best 5 lap average.

Chris Buescher – 5 minutes into practice he said he’s a little bit free on throttle and on the splitter a little bit in turns 1&2. 30 minutes into practice while he was 7th he said he is still a little free on throttle and needs a little more security but he has speed.

David Ragan – 5 minutes into practice he said, “I’m a little loose through the whole corner.” 25 minutes into practice while he was 28th he said, “That really gave me some security. I still feel free though before the car loads up in turn 3.” 40 minutes into practice while he was 28th he said, “It settled down quicker that run and turned a little better. The front end can sill turn a little more, center-off.”
