Richmond NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
William Byron – 10 minutes into practice while he was 3rd he said his car is much better than any car he’s had at Richmond. 20 minutes into practice he did a mock qualifying run and said he was chattering the tires. Following a late run he reported that he’s a bit tight on exit of the corners. During a late run his crew chief said, “Good lap.” At the end Byron said, “Not much change with that adjustment other than I felt like I had less turn to start the run.”
Kyle Busch – His car showed really good speed early in practice. Ten minutes into practice he was 4th on the speed chart. Halfway through practice he had the best 10 lap average.
Ryan Newman – He started the session with a 9 lap run that put him 9th. 30 minutes into practice while he was 11th he said his car feels, “really, really good.”
Aric Almirola – 30 minutes into practice while he was 18th he said, “Turns way better than earlier this year and my entry has improved.”
Alex Bowman – 20 minutes into practice while he was 25th he said, “Was better to start. It just started building loose. My entry was going away the quickest.” 40 minutes into practice while he was 25th he said, “Right there was building tighter. I’m free in and off.”
