Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Aric Almirola, Daniel Suarez, Michael McDowell, Ty Dillon, Landon Cassill, Joey Gase and Timmy Hill all started in the rear of the field after failing inspection.
Tyler Reddick drove the #31 which was a third RCR entry.

Kansas Race Notes
Kevin Harvick who won the pole selected to start in the low-line. He led the opening 32 laps.
The “top drivers” who started in the back quickly raced their way up the running order.
Joey Logano was up 15 positions in about 10 laps. He started in the back after failing inspection.
Early in the race while running in the top ten, Erik Jones said his car was really loose.
Jeff Gordon thought Aric Almirola had a really good car early. Almirola started in the back and was moving up through the field at a steady pace.
Running order at the time for the lap 30 competition caution: 4,24,14,2,1,17,88,20,18,11 …. 37,48,22,9,3,12
William Byron got the lead off pit road following the competition caution. Harvick who was the leader took four tires and he restarted back in 10th. Everyone in front of him took two tires.
During the restart for the first caution, Clint Bowyer took the lead and he then led the next 12 laps.
On lap 49, Kevin Harvick took the lead. He then led the next 14 laps.
Top 5 around lap 55: 4,14,1,88,9
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s car was said to be a handful around lap 59.
Notable Moment: Denny Hamlin had a flat tire on lap 60 and it brought out a caution. His car had a little bit of damage. Prior to his problem he was running around the mid-teens. This dropped him a lap down.
- Notable Moment: Michael McDowell got a pit road penalty during the Denny Hamlin caution.
On lap 73, Kevin Harvick retook the lead a few laps after the restart for the Hamlin caution. He then led the next 11 laps.
Chris Buescher was very competitive. He was battling for 5th place around lap 79.
Stage #1 Top Ten Finishers (Lap 80): 4,9,17,42,1,37,2,14,20,22
Notable Moment: William Byron got penalized during Stage caution when equipment left his pit box.
Denny Hamlin got the free pass during the Stage #1 caution.
Clint Bowyer really liked his car. Early in Stage #2 he was running in 3rd.
Running order a couple of laps into Stage #2: 4,1,9,14,20,37,17
Running order just after lap 100: 4,9,20,1,88
Kyle Busch wanted more front grip and more rear grip a little bit after lap 100. He was struggling.
Jimmie Johnson was outside the top 20 around lap 130. He was said to be struggling.
Late during a green flag pit cycle in Stage #2, Martin Truex Jr. got into the back of Daniel Suarez and booted him to pit road. Suarez was already coming to pit road at that time. Truex appeared to get some damage from this.
On lap 145, Chase Elliott took the lead. Harvick was in 2nd. Elliott led the next 18 laps.
Stage #2 Top Ten Finishers (Lap 160): 9,4,20,88,17,37,1,14,18,42
Martin Truex Jr. made an extra pit stop during the Stage #2 caution. It was likely to repair some damage to his nose.
